High school horror movies have always appealed to audiences who never seem to get enough of seeing fresh-faced teens picked off one by one in grisly fashion. After breaking into the mainstrem with Carrie in 1976 and Halloween in 1978, teen slasher films have become a very specific art form over the years, with a few ground rules that always seem to apply in some variation.
Stereotypical characters of a Teen horror movie are: The Jock, The Attractive Woman, The geek, The Mysterious Person and various friends that are in the film just to die at the start, one by one.
The film’s advertisement was focused on exploiting the fact that the film was available to watch in 3D. 3D is a modern concept of film, which is very popular at the moment and ‘My Bloody Valentine’, was one of the first major films to advertise this. 3D film is when you are given a special pair of glasses to watch the film and it feels like the film is actually around you and tangible.
Horror film's often revolve around revenge, such as someone being murdered previously then coming back from the dead to kill all involved and more! Original films that are based around this genre are films such as 'I know what you did last summer' and 'Sorority Row'.
